Message Help - Creating or Modifying a vanity name

.Now you can have a vanity name to replace the 10-digit phone number in your two-way address. A personal vanity name also referred to as a username or alias, will make it easier for people to remember your wireless address.

What Is A Vanity Name?
To Request a Vanity Name
Addressing Messages using a Vanity Name

To create or modify your vanity name, call 800-333-4722.

Arch Wireless and Metrocall customers can visit https://myaccount.usamobility.com/. Select Manage Devices followed by Alias Maintenance, where you are free to create, modify, or delete vanity names.

You may also maintain vanity names by contacting Customer Care at customer.care@usamobility.com or by dialing the number on your invoice.

What Is A Vanity Name?
A vanity name can be used in place of the 10-digit phone number in your two-way address. Simply use your vanityname@usamobility.net, vanityname@airmessage.net, vanityname@my2way.com or vanityname@archwireless.net for e-mail addressing and your vanity name by itself for wireless addressing (two-way to two-way).

Having a customized wireless address makes it easier for your friends to remember. For example, instead of having an e-mail address like "2145551212@usamobility.net", "2145551212@airmessage.net", "2145551212@my2way.com" or "2145551212@archwireless.net", you can have "MarcSmith@usamobility.net", "MarcSmith@airmessage.net", "MarcSmith@my2way.com" or "MarcSmith@archwireless.net". And for two-way to two-way addressing, you simply use "MarcSmith" as the wireless address.

VANITY NAME ALERT!
If you are signed up for services, which require you to provide your wireless device address in a user profile, you must update that profile for these services with your new vanity name.

To Create Your Vanity Name
To create or modify your vanity name, simply call Customer Service: 800-333-4722
Arch Wireless and Metrocall customers can visit https://myaccount.arch.com/login.jsp.

Select Manage Devices followed by Alias Maintenance, where you are free to create, modify or delete vanity names. You may also maintain vanity names by contacting customer.care@usamobility.com or by dialing the number on your invoice.

  • Vanity names can be up to 20 characters in length.

Alphanumeric (either letters or numbers) plus, all symbols except
    [ ] ( ) < > , ; : \\ @ and space.

  • Your vanity name must consist of a minimum of 5 alphanumeric characters, a maximum of 14 alphanumeric characters, or a maximum of 6 symbol characters; period(.), hyphen(-), underscore(_). The first character of your vanity name must be alpha. Your vanity name cannot begin with a numeric or symbol character.

  • Each customer's vanity name must be unique. For example, if there is already a "MarcSmith" on the network, you must select another name, like "MarcSmith2".

Addressing Messages with a Vanity Name

Messages being sent to your two-way can now be addressed using your vanity name.

  • Messages from another USA Mobility two-way can be addressed simply to your vanity name. For example:

A sender would select "Send Message", then "Select Address", then "Wireless Address". The address is simply "MarcSmith".

  • Messages sent over the Internet need to be addressed to your full wireless address. The address is MarcSmith@airmessage.net, MarcSmith@my2way.com or MarcSmith either/or @archwireless.net / @ arch.net

NOTE: People can still use your 7-digit PIN or 10-digit device phone number to send you messages even after you've created a vanity name.
